enter when you are ready...

during one of my hawaiian studies class, the teacher showed a video about how hawaiian culture is so closely tied to its language. in the video, a particular practice stood out for me:

at the start of each morning, both the students and teachers would recite certain chants. (if i rem correctly, it has smth to do with honouring the teachers and receiving the students). then they would be outside the classrooms and enter only when they are ready. they will not enter without a prepared heart or with "baggages".

it is interesting because i rarely get myself ready for classes. not even bible studies at times. getting ready shows our attitude towards the education we are receiving. As I approach my QT and prayers, it is easy also to "just do it".

Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil. (Ecc 5:1)
